Support World Week for Animals in Laboratories

Name: World Week for Animals in Laboratories

World Week for Animals in Labs 2020In honor of World Week for Animals in Laboratories 2020, we’re not only remembering the countless animals whose lives are spent in laboratory cages. We’re asking you to take action to help empty those cages.

We’re calling on President Trump and all of our elected officials in Congress to act on an issue that goes beyond party politics and affects not only animals living in laboratories, but also the possibilities for better ways to improve human health.

And they need to know that our stance isn’t a fringe idea represented by a minority of their constituents. In fact, a recent Pew research poll showed that the majority of Americans on both sides of the aisle support an end to the use of animals in scientific research.

By taking action below, you can quickly send a message to those in power and tell them that today—and every day—we’re not forgetting the animals living in laboratories, and that we’re demanding an end to this cruel and wasteful practice, while more effectively and efficiently advancing solutions for human health problems.

Because no matter what side of the aisle we’re on, we should all be on the side of the animals.

Stand with the animals

Dear [Decision Maker],

This week is World Week for Animals in Laboratories, which calls attention to the plight of millions of animals who live their lives in cages, subjected to harmful, flawed and costly experimentation.

Today, I'm writing to ask that you support an end to the use of animals in scientific testing and experimentation. In public and private institutions across our country, dogs, cats, primates, mice and other species are subjected to painful experiments which often, by design, end in their deaths. What's worse--science has shown that these lives are often taken in vain: much of this research doesn't translate into solutions to human health problems, including find a rapid treatment for the COVID-19 virus.

And when it comes to research done by public institutions like the NIH, EPA, FDA and the USDA, Americans' tax dollars support this cruelty and waste. We're squandering time, money and animal lives instead of investing in solutions that will truly make a difference.

You have the opportunity to champion an issue that not only has seen bipartisan support, but one that, according to a 2018 Pew poll, a majority of Americans support. By supporting an end to animal experimentation, and instead supporting the search for innovative, more human-relevant methods, you'll not only be ending the suffering of countless animals, but you'll be helping advance important research that more effectively helps people, too.

I hope that you will use your unique position of power to lead--whenever and however possible--in supporting positive, humane and human-relevant solutions that do not harm animals.
